Density Cubes Needed for Student Labs and Investigations About Density
Funded May 9, 2024Thank you so much for the density cubes! I am thrilled to be able to have multiple density cube sets as a classroom resources.
Most recently I was able to use the density cube sets with my 7th graders when introducing the concept of density. Handling these different cubes makes an immediate impression on the students. They get a first hand experience of different materials having a "natural heaviness" about them.
My 8th graders were also able to benefit from the cubes. During our MCAS prep class, I once again used the cubes with my 8th graders as a review of density. They too gained a much more powerful understanding of density by being able to conduct a hands-on activity using the cubes.
Thank you again for your generosity!”

Funded May 9, 2024Thank you so much for the craft popsicle sticks. The popsicle sticks have allowed me to continue a couple of great projects I like to do each year. Some of these projects include the building of bridges and model houses.
When learning about engineering and design, my 7th graders build bridges using 100 popsicle sticks and hot glue. As the unit progresses, they learn about various topics such as loads, scale and proportion, and forces. The unit culminates with a contest to see which bridge can hold the most amount of weight. Last year's winner held more than 70lbs of weight!
My eighth graders build model houses using the craft popsicle sticks as well. In this unit they also learn about forces, loads, scale and proportion, as well as the parts and function of different structures (wall framing, roofing, insulation, foundations, etc.). The unit culminates with a nice showcase whereby parents come in to view the student work and model houses!
Thank you so much for the craft sticks! I greatly appreciate your generosity! I now have plenty of sticks to continue the units for my new group of students this year!”

Funded Mar 15, 2024All year long we perform many labs and activities that require taking temperature data. All of our units (Chemistry, Physical Science, Life Science, and Earth Science) contain labs and activities where students need to take the temperatures of liquids and gases, specifically when taking readings for how temperatures of substances change both before and after chemical reactions.
The new thermometers we received are helping approximately 300 students in grades 5-8! The thermometers are quick to turn on, and very easy to use! We have used them in various labs, and I must say it is so nice having thermometers that are reliable and easy to use!
Additionally, the glue that was received has helped with so many engineering projects! During the engineering units, my 7th graders build bridges and my 8th graders build model houses! Your generosity really was the "glue" that held everything together - both physically with their projects, as well as the great learning that was achieved throughout these units!
Once again, thank you so much for your generosity!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Chris George
