Board Games Aren't Boring!
Funded Jan 27, 2023Thank you for donating to Liberty Elementary School's first ever board game club! With your help, we were able to purchase 21 games including Kingdomino, Labyrinth, Race to the Treasure, and Mancala. We were able to acquire enough copies of each game that we could all play the same game at each meeting!
We met once a week during the second semester. We started each meeting by playing the game we had learned the previous week. Next, we gathered together and discussed topics related to our school's PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) plan, R.O.A.R. (Responsibility, Operating Safely, Active Listening, Respect). We talked about topics like playing fairly, how to respectfully disagree, how to choose who goes first, and how to win and lose graciously. Then, we learned how to play a new game. Last, the best part, we played! As the semester went on, students were able to pick up how to play new games faster and faster. They voted each week on the new game for the following week and came in excited and ready to go. We shared pictures and updates via the Dojo app for parents. Several parents reported that students wanted to purchase the games to play at home and some went to the public library to check out board games.
We all agreed at the end of the semester that Board Games Were NOT Boring and we couldn't wait to start the club up again next year! Your donation impacted 25 students last semester and we will continue to use these games for many more years to come. Thank you again for donation to Donors Choose. Without you, this club would not have been possible!”
With gratitude,
