Mirror, Mirror on the Wall
Funded Nov 29, 2023Our new classroom mirrors have done wonders for my students. In the dramatic play area they use the mirrors to place dress up clothes on by themselves. Sometimes they even use the mirror to see their different facial emotions. The mirror in the bathroom help my potty training children with pulling their clothes up and down.
My students fell in love with the mirrors. They just couldn't get enough of looking at themselves whether they were making silly faces or changing into different dress up clothes.
Thank you for all your awesome donations. I can't wait to add some more items to our dramatic play area and watch the faces on my students as they learn to dress themselves up on their own!”

Funded Nov 8, 2023Our new carpets give our classroom a comfortable and homey look. They also help to distinguish all the different areas that are in the class. My students use the carpets to sit down on when playing or just when they want to take a little break.
My students were thrilled with our new carpets. They especially loved the bright colored carpet with all the different animals on it. The oval shaped carpet that was placed in the dramatic play area, the children say that it looks like their house.
Adding some new shelves to our classroom will be the next thing to work on. The dramatic play area is very popular with my students and I would love to add to it.”

Funded Feb 28, 2024My students love all the new items that we have just received through Donors Choose. The Liquid Floor Tiles work wonders on rainy days while the children hop across them using their large muscle movements. The Magnetic Alphabet Tracing Board helps the children with their writing skills as well as eye and hand coordination. While using The Wooden Car Ramps my students have learned patience and how to take turns.
When I brought out all these new toys my students eyes lit up with excitement and had many questions. We talked about how each new toy worked and how to use the properly.
My next steps for my students is to focus more on STEM activities to keep their minds working!”

Rest and Relax Zone
Funded Sep 6, 2023My students are loving the comfy blue couch. They use it specifically when reading books. Some of my students have even used the comfy blue couch as a hospital bed for their baby dolls and stuffed animals while getting a check up. The Calming Canopy has given my students a safe and relaxing place to go when they need space for themselves to rest.
When we first received the comfy blue couch my students were in heaven. They finally had a place besides the floor to sit while reading books. They really liked the Calming Canopy, it gave them a place to hide when they needed time to themselves.
These new items have brought a wonderful and positive change to our classroom in many ways.”

Funded Sep 21, 2023Having an aquarium in our class is wonderful. It has given my students a sense of responsibility. Everyday the student's take turns feeding the fish. We watch them grow as each day passes. My students always seem to have something new to ask about the fish. Their little minds are always thinking and their vocabulary is growing more and more everyday.
My students were so excited when they saw all the new science and STEM toys. Their most favorite toy was the "Science Viewers". They could sit forever taking turns with their friends, looking at all the different pictures and talking amongst each other.
As time goes by we would like to add some live plants, a snail, and more fish in our aquarium. Thank you for keeping these little brains thinking!”

Students in my class have dressed up as fire fighters pretending to put out fires and police men or women making sure that our classroom is a safe place. They really love acting out who they see and meet in our community.
When my students first saw all the costumes they were so excited and couldn't wait to try everything on! We talked about each costume, what they do and how they help us in our community.
Thank you to all who donated! You have enriched our classroom in so many ways and have made my students feel like they're all a part of the community we live in.”

Funded Sep 20, 2023Everyday during circle time we use the "Feelings Emotional Slider", asking each child how they feel. When any of my students are upset they go sit in the Calming Area. Many of my students use the "Gel Bead Emotion Friends". They recognize the emotion that they feel and squeeze them tight letting all their frustration out.
When my students first saw all the the new items for our Calming Corner, they were so happy and had many questions. We talked about all the different items and how to use them when we're upset. My students love books, so we read all the "Moods and Emotions Books".
I will continue to use the "Feelings Emotional Slider" and "Social-Emotional Library Photos" everyday with my students letting them know that it's okay to feel the way they feel. Thank you donors for helping us create The Calming Corner!”

Funded Aug 2, 2023Durning one of our small group activities I placed all the blocks on a table and asked the children to get creative with them. Some of the children matched the shapes together, some build tall towers, and some put them in groups by colors. There was one particular child who used the mirror and the glitter water blocks and said "My blocks show the reflection of the glitter water blocks."
When we first received all our blocks the children were so excited. They helped me take them out of their packages and place them all in their new homes. They noticed right away that some had sand, glitter water, beads and were already talking about what they were going to build with them!
Thank you so much for all of our new blocks!!You have helped take my students creativity to another level!”

Funded Mar 15, 2023In our class we listen to a variety of music throughout the day on a daily basis. Every so often the children gather together to form marching bands grabbing musical instruments of their choice and playing them while marching around the classroom.
When the children first saw the musical instruments out on the shelf their eyes lit up with excitement. Before using any of the instruments we sat down and talked about each instrument, what they were called, and how to handle them.
In the future, I'd like to have the children practice and be able to follow simple music patterns. By incorporating the musical instruments into a daily basis it will show them how to respect and appreciate music!”

Funded Apr 5, 2023Thank you for helping us make our classroom more welcoming. With the coat rack in the classroom, it shows my students to be responsible with their belongings. The pillows gives our class a cozy look and a place to rest and relax. The shelf with cubbies gives all our manipulative toys a specific spot to be put in and makes it easy for clean up time. The magnet/ dry erase board gives my students a place to show off their creative drawings.
My students were very excited to see all the new items in our classroom. They knew what to do and how to use everything without me having to explain or show them!
