Robots for Computer Scientists
Funded Dec 25, 2024I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation that made it possible for my students to engage with Edison robots. Your contribution has had an incredible impact on their learning experience, and I wanted to share with you just how much this technology has meant to them.
In today's world, technology is a huge part of our daily lives, but many students often only interact with it in a passive way. With the Edison robots, my students are not just using technology—they are actively creating with it, solving problems, and developing critical skills that will serve them in the future. The hands-on experience has transformed the way they approach learning, especially in STEM subjects. These robots encourage students to experiment, think creatively, and work collaboratively—all while coding and programming the robots to complete various challenges.
The excitement in the classroom has been palpable. The students are most excited about seeing their coding come to life in the form of the Edison robots' movements and actions. It's one thing to write code, but to see a robot actually execute that code is something that sparks curiosity and a sense of accomplishment. It has inspired students to dive deeper into coding, robotics, and problem-solving, and I've seen a real shift in how they approach challenges, not just in our tech lessons but in all areas of learning.
Thanks to your support, my students are not only gaining valuable technical knowledge, but they're also developing teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance—skills that will serve them well far beyond the classroom.
Once again, thank you so much for your generosity. Your donation has made a significant difference in the lives of my students, and we are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to use the Edison robots in our learning journey.”

Ms. Shin
Making Thinking Visible
Funded May 31, 2023Thank you so much for your donation! My students are really enjoying the new dry-erase system we're using. I can see the difference that using dry-erase markers for thinking in math class makes. When students are confused or struggling with a concept, they are more willing to jot their thoughts down, even if they think they're wrong, because it feels less permanent. I see so much more engagement from students when they feel like their mistakes are part of the learning.
Now that we've been using the system for about 2 weeks, students are getting in the habit of managing their materials effectively and cleaning up after themselves. I was initially concerned it might be difficult to transition from only pencil/paper to dry-erase, but it's been very smooth. I've also been able to save so much paper: rather than print worksheets for every single student, I just need a class set.
My students and I appreciate your generosity so much. Thank you!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Shin
