Flexible Seating for Focus

The kids were so excited to get all the options for seats! They are thoroughly enoying them! Not only can they work around the room in a variety of ways, they can use the stools at their desks for better comfort while learning! We are extremely appreciative of these stools, cushions, and school chairs.

Before the project was funded, I was trying to gradually put together flexible seating. I would look online for deals that I could find. I used my own money to purchase wobble cushions. I was able to see the difference in the enthusiasm and ability for learners to benefit from the ability to wiggle in their seat while paying attention.

As you can imagine, trying to fund these items myself was slow and I was only able to afford a small amount at a time. Through the generosity of this amazing program, I was able to buy a variety of seating options and build on the ways the students can work and comfortable areas for student learning. The students are really excited and enjoy the ability to work around the room on stools, on cushions, at their desk, on the floor, and in different chairs. The scoop chairs are like little rockers for the floor. The students love them and are able to recline to read.

The biggest thing that flexible seating does in the classroom is promote comfort in learning. When the students are given options and feel at home, they get more done. They have something to look forward to when they can read around the room or work in groups on stools or on cushions. Thank you so much for the opportunity to provide these things in my classroom. I look forward to sharing these opportunities with the students. I intend to keep building on my goals to create an inviting and welcoming place to learn!”
