This classroom project was brought to life by LOFT.A Sweet Snack for the Inner Child
Funded Nov 15, 2024I have been so honored and blessed to host this coffee bar and snack pantry all year round because of your generosity.
It has kept students in class, and it has fostered new relationships that I may have not made had it not been for the connection of the food and the resources. Student would come to class, get their hot drink and snack, and begin to work on their projects. My class is one of the most well attended classes all day long; much of the staff has observed and remarked!
Additionally, the little details like the fidgets and the stickers make the students feel valued and cared for. We use and validate using fidgets for worktime and mindfulness. The stickers are used to personalize their folders for their notes and work. In all this, some precious babes have even mentioned that "You don't treat us like criminals; you treat us like students." These little gestures of love and care that your funds have afforded my classroom have made all of the difference. Thank you so much for blessing me!”

Classroom Coffee Bar
Funded Aug 23, 2024It's crazy how a simple thing like a cup of warm apple cider, a cup of fresh coffee or a mug of hot chocolate can drastically improve someone's day. Since re-opening the coffee bar this school year, due to your generous gifts, our coffee bar has been able to help not just the students on my class roster, but students from all over the school building. We have a stream of students throughout the day from a variety of classes who come for their daily pick me up. Learning can only occur if one's basic needs are met.
One of my co-workers states that rooms that have a tea kettle or a coffee bar often have students with fewer absences. They come in the morning, get settled and get their hot drink to have as they work on their studies. Many of them work long hours, doubles or have regular life-struggles and a cup of caffeine always seems to help. Additionally, I watch as students teach other students how to use the Keurig machine and see community grow. I greet each student and meet new ones as they come in for a beverage or sometimes just a cup for the water fountain. I am blessed to be able to have this resource and give it. In conclusion, your gift is impacting the attendance of our students by keeping kids in school and adding to their motivation. It's difficult to explain the phenomenon, but it feels as though the cup of warmth is a reward for them for making it to the building and pushing forward. Learning can only occur if one's basic needs are met.”

A Better Classroom
Funded Jan 17, 2023I feel like the classroom has been revived! The new headphones allows my students to read on their intervention programs and not disturb others, the highlighters allowed us to interact with texts more thoroughly, new Ticonderoga pencils have been a huge relief(other brands are a source of stress & headache) and the sticky notes allow us to complete our warm ups and exit tickets with ease. The COLORED PENCILS! We had none previously, just a small box that all the classrooms were sharing simultaneously. Now we can do our map work and our paper projects freely. It's been like a classroom renovation, truly! The snacks brought many of our students to class in the mornings, relying on that little bite to get their day started.
Additionally, my felt pens have been a joy for my students to "borrow" when taking their guided notes. It's a treat to them! Thank you so much for your generosity to education and our next generation of leaders, movers and shakers.”

English Comes to Life!
Funded Jan 12, 2023Thank you for your generosity.
Our school is in transition and our physical building currently does not have a library. Additionally, as an alternative school, much of our learning occurs on computers or using technology. This is a blessing and a much better fit for our student body, however there is no replacement for a good book. With the majority of our student body being below grade level readers or Language Learners, these texts in graphic novel and manga were a perfect fit for bringing more reading into our community. To my surprise, more than just my language learners grabbed books out of the book cart to read. I hope to grow our classroom library with more book titles in the future. I am considering even using one or more of these titles for the upcoming school year for book circles for novel study. We are thrilled to have accessible reading materials!
Thank you so much!”
