Calculators for Students with Special Needs!
Funded May 7, 2024The new calculators are significantly aiding our special education students by providing them with personalized learning experiences. These calculators feature adaptive tools and visual aids that cater to different learning needs. For example, they can offer step-by-step problem-solving assistance and larger, clearer displays, which help students who struggle with traditional math tools. This technology also allows for immediate feedback, which reinforces learning and helps students understand their mistakes in real-time.
The most exciting aspect of the new calculators for our students is their interactive features and user-friendly design. The calculators have built-in functions that simplify complex calculations and visually represent problems, making abstract concepts more tangible. Many students are enthusiastic about the ability to customize the display and interface according to their preferences, which increases their engagement and confidence in using the tool.
Yes, certain students have particularly benefited from this technology. For instance, students with dyscalculia have found the calculators' visual and step-by-step guidance extremely helpful. Additionally, students with attention difficulties appreciate the calculators' ability to break down tasks into manageable chunks, which helps them stay focused and organized. Overall, the calculators have become a favorite tool for these students, as they provide a more accessible and less intimidating way to approach math challenges.”

Funded Apr 10, 2023Thank you for funding my class with calculators. Many of my students are English learners. Providing these calculators has been a blessing to my classes as math is a universal language. The calculators are able to type the equations out in their entirety so my students (most of which are on IEP/504 plans) are able to complete math problems with ease despite differences in learning abilities.
At the beginning of the year, one of the students had their own calculator (of the same model) and we did our best to share among the students- you can imagine the difficulty this task placed in a testing/class work environment. Seeing the students utilize his calculator in effort to learn inspired my Donor's Choose Wish List.
My students are able to complete their work in a timely fashion and are inspired to continue learning math. These calculators will be utilized for the years to come!”
