Funded Jan 5, 2023The third grade class at Flournoy Elementary School is greatly appreciative for the supplies donating! Thanks to your donation we were about to create a calm down area in our classroom! With these resources students have a calming and comfortable space to calm down, reflect, read, and share their emotions! After morning check-ins, students are able to go to the calm down corner if needed and use the tools and resources provided!
When students walked into the classroom they were ecstatic to see a new carpet, beanbags, posters, and calm down tools! They were eager to read the posters and use the calm down tools! Now, students are able to communicate when they need to use and calm down corner, and safely and responsibly use it to regulate their emotions and re-focus.
As students learn how to cope and regulate their emotions, we are planning to add in more materials for them to use. Students are also learning how to use the calm down corner with their peers as well.”
