I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support in funding our project to bring copies of The New Tourist by Paige McClanahan into our classroom. Your generosity has made an incredible difference, and I want to share how this book is already impacting our students.
In today's interconnected world, understanding tourism's role in global communities is more important than ever. Paige McClanahan's insights provide a thought-provoking lens for students to examine how travel can be a force for both positive and negative change. With your help, our class now has the opportunity to explore concepts like sustainability, cultural exchange, and economic impact through this engaging and accessible resource.
Over the past few weeks, we've delved into discussions inspired by The New Tourist. Students have been reflecting on their own experiences with travel—or imagining future ones—and analyzing how choices as simple as where to stay or what to eat can ripple out into larger global effects. One student shared, "I never thought about how tourism affects the environment in the places people visit. This book made me want to travel smarter."
Thanks to you, our students are gaining valuable critical thinking skills and are empowered to consider their roles as future global citizens. The book has not only enriched our curriculum but has also sparked meaningful conversations that extend beyond the classroom walls.
