Wilderness Camp Space
Funded Dec 6, 2024Thank you for donating to our classroom project. The donations allowed us to have a fantastic writing celebration in our classroom. The students were so excited when the supplies arrived and were eager to use them. They immediately wanted to write thank you letters to show their gratitude. The space I created with the purchased materials contributed to our celebration, and now it is being used as a reading area in our classroom.
The arrival of the supplies motivated the students to work on their project, creating a diorama and animal book. This project was the culminating activity of our writing unit. The students chose an animal and made a diorama of their animal's habitat. They also had to write a non-fiction book with facts about their animal. The materials I purchased enabled me to transform the classroom into a forest for the children to showcase their projects and writing work. The parents were invited to view the projects in a "Gallery Walk" and were able to celebrate with their children.
Studies have shown that students who learn through project-based learning have higher learning outcomes because they understand the material better than if it were just being taught to them. This was evident during the project share that took place in our classroom. The children were proud of their work and couldn't wait to share and have discussions with each other. This couldn't have turned out as outstanding without your donations. I have shared photos of the classroom decorated with the purchased supplies. I have also shared some photos of the children enjoying the space. I would've loved for you all to have seen how happy they were to see the room decorated. They can't wait to use the wilderness space when reading independently. Again, thank you so much for your donations.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Torres
