Put a Smile on My Face!
Funded Dec 30, 2022An acknowledgment of satisfactory performance and behavior makes anyone smiles and promotes the social-emotional and learning of students. I adopt the project " Put a Smile on My Face" in my classroom from time to time giving snacks to reward students' academic performances and improvements in tests and major assessments. I did observe that students are mostly surprised whenever they are reward for their improvements and tend to want to do more . Therefore, I adapted the practice to encourage the students for their efforts and hardworking to propel them to work harder. Also, they are reward for their classroom behaviors, and we do this every Friday, tag "Fun Friday," where the well behaved for the week are reward. This help with their behaviors because every student wants to participate in fun Friday and get rewarded. Moreover, the students that turn-in their Homework are reward and it has help increases the number of students that turn-in their Homework.
Like any child will react; the students, when they first saw the snacks were amazed, excited, and curious , wanted to know what I want to use the snacks for. I explained what we are going to use the snacks for, which prompted them to bucked up to perform better academically and socially.
The next step for this current classroom project is that I am using it to reward students' participation during whole group and small group activities and to review for our next major test. The remaining snacks will be for the last day of school.”
With gratitude,
