    They were thrilled to create a poster showing what they learned about their Ecosystem. They are very artistic and worked hard using the books we got for facts & drawing pictures. The markers were a big help in letting them get creative and take pride in their masterpiece. The snacks made it enjoyable to work and be rewarded for their effort.”

    Thank you so much for providing the supplies and rewards for my students. First, having my students with the correct supplies and being able to store them in school is a great help to them because 7th grade is a new transition for them and they are not in 1 room all day. They go to 8 different rooms and get disorganized and overwhelmed. Having everything they need for science in my room helps them so much, keeps them organized, less stressed, and better prepared them for success in science. The rewards are a great incentive for them for behavior, incentives on quizzes/tests, and winning review games. They look forward to these activities and get rewarded. Ty for making a Positive difference for my kids.”

Teaching in an urban middle school with lots of ELL's can be challenging and rewarding at the same time. A lot of my students are great kids, but are lacking basic supplies, or have a language barrier, or both. In addition, my students are transferring from being with one class all day in elementary school to becoming much more independent and accountable for themselves entering middle school which is a big adjustment for most of my students so I must find ways to help them feel safe, comfortable, and set up for success.

About my class
