I have a diverse group of students who attend a public school in the state of Tennessee. These students are a tough group and are friendly and eager to learn. We take for granted the things they do not know, and exposing them to literature gives them the opportunity to relate these stories to real life situations such as identifying cabbage in the grocery store, and exposing them to new vocabulary, authors, illustrators, and concepts of print.
