Rebuilding Minds

Funded Feb 1, 2023

We were able to use everything that was given to us. Being organized for the school year and having the essential materials to succeed was a blessing. I kept all their creative work in one section, separating it from the other blocks and having so many sticky notes to play fun activities to review for their SOLs, quizzes, etc.

Many of my students were excited to see new organization items and essential items needed to succeed throughout the school year. They were willing to participate in the open discussions using sticky notes and having a race with one another to get the answer on the board to collect points for their team. Being able to play capture the flag when reviewing for their SOLs. Knowing that my classroom has limited space for their Chromebooks to be charged, the power surge protectors help extend from all corners in the middle of my classroom, and they were appreciative of not having to argue over a closer seat to an outlet anymore.

Since it is towards the end of the year, my students are using everything they can find to build a 3D model of the solar system. They use styrofoam, yarn, paper, rocks, etc., to make our solar system. My students see their peers coming to class with different ideas and models and are excited to present their work.”

With gratitude,
