  • These ARE the Books You Are Looking For

    Funded Apr 1, 2016

Reading is the key to so many doors. Future success can be built on a love of reading. It is the reason I work so hard to keep my library full of books the students will want to devour. Just today my class had a conversation (related to a book I'm reading) about students who are "wild about reading" and those who aren't, and why! I was thrilled to find out that our project was funded and can't wait to help my students get their hands on these books!

Thank you very much for your donation to this project. With so many great titles, series and authors out there today, it's nice to know that there are generous people like you, who are willing to help me get some of the most current books into the hands of my students!

    I really appreciate your support!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. A.

  • Drop Everything and Read These New Books!

    Funded Mar 13, 2016

Thanks again for your support of my classroom. I am elated to bring more books into the lives of my students. This would not have been possible without your support. As a dedicated educator who wants to bring a love of reading to her students, it is so encouraging to know that there are caring people out there who feel the same way. One of my favorite aspects of my work as an ELA teacher is seeing children enthusiastic about reading and your help has made that possible!

While books are necessary for any school, in the hands of a child who has limited access to books at home, it can be a symbol of the power of education. When my students saw the brand new books spread out on the table, the excitement in the room rose visibly. They crowded around and spent the entire period exploring, chatting, and trying to hoard the more popular titles. Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. A.

  • Hungry Hungry Readers

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. I was so excited when I saw the boxes arrive. As I opened them and began to inventory all of the new amazing titles that would be entering my classroom library, I felt overwhelmed. I knew how excited my students were going to be. The books that you donated has helped my students get engaged during independent reading. In fact, it's my new problem is going to be getting them to stop reading when it's time to change activities!

Before I even had a chance to inventory the books and get them into the library, students were already clamoring around me, trying to be the first to borrow a certain title. Your generous donations have helped to revitalize our classroom library and bring new passion to the student's independent reading time. Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. A.

  • A Room Full of Books

    Funded Jan 3, 2016

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your magnanimous donation to my classroom. As I began to inventory all of the new amazing titles that would be entering my classroom library, I felt overwhelmed and excited. I knew how excited my students were going to be, and I was right. Before I even had a chance to label and code the books, students were clamoring around me, asking to borrow titles. When I told them strangers had donated these books to the class, they were amazed. I don't think it had ever occurred to them that something like that could happen. Perhaps in addition to book lovers we've created future philanthropists who will pay your kindness forward to future students!

Your generous donations have helped to revitalize our classroom library and bring new passion to the student's independent reading time. Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. A.

  • Reading to Succeed

    Funded Apr 17, 2013

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books that you donated has helped my students get engaged during independent reading. It has also opened up the number of resources I wouldn't have had access to with the limited budget my school currently has.

I have always prided myself on having an extensive classroom library. I especially love having a classroom library that contains books which the population of students I teach actually want to read. It's often difficult to find the right books for them, because many of my students are reluctant readers. The more choices, and the wider variety of book choices, the easier I find it to match the right book to the right student. If I can show someone who doesn't like to read that there are books out there for them, then I feel my job as a teacher has meaning. That experience would not have been possible with out your generous donations.

It's donors like you that help teachers extend the capabilities of their classroom. Thank you so much.”

  • Catching Kindle Fire

    Funded Sep 3, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The Kindle that you donated has helped me students get engaged during independent reading. It has also opened up the number of resources I wouldn't have had access to with the limited budget my school currently has. Books which weren't available in hard copies are now available to my students through the use of the kindle.

Space is also limited in my school as our building is now being used as a campus building and classroom sharing is becoming more and more common. I have always prided myself on having a huge classroom library, but am finding that I now have limited space. The kindle has enabled me to have as many books (if not more) than I did before without sacrificing what's becoming prime classroom real estate. Without your generosity, this would not have been possible.

It's donors like you that help teachers extend the capabilities of their classroom. Thank you so much.

    Sincerely,

    Ms. A”

  • Weathering the Storm: Hurricane Sandy Host School

    Funded Nov 19, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude for your generous donation to my classroom. The books that you donated has helped my students get engaged during independent reading. It has also opened up the number of resources I wouldn't have had access to with the limited budget my school currently has.

I have always prided myself on having a huge classroom library, but am finding that I now have limited space and financial resources. Sharing our school with one affected by Hurricane Sandy has been tough, but during this unexpected and traumatic time, it was the least we could do. I am a very giving person and love sharing resources. My classes library has been extended and shared with other classrooms as we now share class room space. The books are a big hit and are flying off the shelves. In particular, the class set of The Outsiders has enabled our students to read a book that has moved millions of students since it's publication. My classes in particular enter the classroom each day hoping that we're going to read the next chapters. This experience would not have been possible wit out your generous donations.

It's donors like you that help teachers extend the capabilities of their classroom. Thank you so much.”
