  • How Valuable is It to You?

    Funded Dec 30, 2024

Thank you for your contribution, it is greatly appreciated. Thanks to you the young scholars got to have day of fun. They learned about supply and demand and got to compete for a limited supply (snacks, giftcards, and grade boosters) with a high demand (their classmate competing for the same items). They were given a random salary (bingo chips in baggies) and had to make it last throughout the game. People teamed up and strategized to win the bounty.

The highlight of the day was when someone who seemingly was uninterested, won the most desired item at the end of the game. Because they had not spent any money previously, they were able to outbid everyone else and snag the golden ticket of the chipotle giftcard. Even people who normally do not participate perked up and tuned in with the mention of the giftcards. They were the sprinkles on top of the other bounty being offered.”

Before we left for break, we were able to have a game day while enjoying the hot chocolate party. The monopoly and scrabble came in handy as students competed against each other. When we start the budgeting unit, the budgeting game with come in handy. A game day is a chance for a mental break and reset, something the students greatly appreciate.”

  • A Hot Chocolate Today Incentivizes Us Tomorrow

    Funded Dec 10, 2024

Thank you for your contribution, it is greatly appreciated. Because of your support, I was able to give my scholars a festive send off.

Thank you so much for your help sending my kids off with a warm treat and snack before winter break. . The kids lined up and had a blast making concoctions reminiscent of the movie elf. I know their young adults in training, but as a I watch the kids experiment with various flavors and sweetness levels I saw child-like glee in their eyes. I even had a few students from another class swing by with puppy-dog eyes for a cup of hot chocolate.

They happily munched away on pringles and little debbies. They played games, sipped caprisuns, and listened to holiday music. They had the fond memories to take them into the new year.”

  • Bringing a Pack of Joy

    Funded Sep 19, 2024

Thank you for your contribution, it is greatly appreciated. Most of my students are above the trick or treating age, but were a able to get a bag of joy. The bags were adorable sitting at everyone's desk waiting for them to come in. They came in shyly asking if those bags were for them. I said of course and to help yourself.

As we showed off the costumes we were wearing and our spirit week outfits, smiles were all around. The echoes of paper rustling, kit-kats snapping, nerds shaking rang true.”

  • Rewarding Snack Pack

    Funded Sep 16, 2024

Thank you for helping me reward my students. Those that work hard aren't always praised as they should be. They do their work and make an effort to comprehend what is being taught. They turn their work in on time and completed. I was able to show them that I appreciate the efforts. Those who I had to pester a little to stay on track and bring their grades up saw a reward for their efforts.

It became a competition amongst themselves to see who had the highest grade. The higher the grade, the fuller their snack pack was. I heard a few people say next time my grade will be higher and I'll get a bag with a (fill in the blank) snack. I was also able to incentivize the class to put forth effort going forward. They saw what their classmates were rewarded with and were motivated to potentially receive an award when quarter 2 ends.

In addition, I am stocked up on snacks for those students who come in late and miss breakfast or who just need a snack. I can utilize the snacks as a reward for winning games, which increases student participation.”

  • The Sneeze Heard Around the World

    Funded Sep 25, 2024

Thank you for your contributions, they are greatly appreciated. I am now stocked up with tissue to last through the cold and flu season. Everyday there are more and more sneezes echoing around the room. I keep a kettle, disposable cups, tea bags, and sugar handy. I have been offering cups of tea to combat the congestion and sore throats.

I am able to sanitize the room in the hopes that germs do not spread. Some of the young scholars are not taking precautions as they cough and sneeze without covering their mouths. I just make sure to offer masks to those that would like them, and I sanitize everyone's desk.”

  • A Visual Feast and Soothing Ambiance

    Funded Jul 18, 2024

Thank you for your contribution, it is greatly appreciated. With your aid I was able to bring a tranquil and beautiful space to life. The command strips allowed me to hang content related posters without damaging the walls. The diffuser and bulletin board paper provided ambiance. I added some lights and plants to tie it all together.

The highlight of my year so far, was when a student said they felt anxious and irritable before they came to my classroom. They said once they came in they instantly relaxed. There has been a lot of positive feedback on the appearance of the classroom. It looks good, feels good, and smells good.

In addition, I have noticed an improvement in disruptive behaviors compared to last year. I have not had to make one parent phone call home about behaviors.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Britt
