  • Bilingual Books and Resources

    Funded Oct 30, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to my bilingual books and resources project. Your generousity has helped numerous English Language Learners in my 8th grade Reading class.

My students are able to use the dictionaries to find most commonly used words and their definitions. Other books such as the 100 flash cards picture books and the Play Action resources has helped students with very little English comprehension to communicate with students, teachers, and staff.

One particular student in my classroom asked for the Illustrated Spanish-English Student Dictionary for his birthday. These resources have made a huge impact in my classroom. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kile

  • Veterans Day Thank You Cards

    Funded Oct 30, 2024

I want to thank you for your donation to my classroom. The 8th grade students were very excited to receive their Veterans Day Thank You cards along with markers to design pictures.

This year our school had our state representative, who is also a Veteran, speak about his experience in Operation Iraq Freedom. He will be taking all of our Thank You letters and Veterans Day drawings and sending them to troops overseas for the holidays. Our letters will be sent to Africa to thank our troops for fighting for our freedom.

The students really enjoyed our Veterans Day project and realize that kindness is appreciated everywhere and everyday.”

    With gratitude,

  • Veterans Day Thank You Cards

    Funded Oct 11, 2023

This week the students in my classes learned about Veterans Day and the significance on our nation's history. After completing an interactive NEARPOD lesson on Veterans Day, students wrote rough drafts of thank you notes and poems. The students expressed their gratitude and honor for the sacrifices and services that ALL Veterans have served.

The 4 different types of Veterans Day thank you cards along with envelopes and stickers we a great asset to our project. The cards will be sent to local VFW's in our area for local veterans to read before November 11th.

The students really enjoyed this project thanks to the wonderful donations.”

  • Notebook Mania

    Funded Sep 26, 2023

Thank you so much for your contributions to my Notebook Mania Project. The students in my classes are currently using the notebooks to copy notes for our current reading passage "The Tell-Tale Heart." Students were able to complete a plot diagram and character perspectives from our story.

Students also used the notebooks to write a rough draft for Veterans Day thank you cards. After a lesson on the importance of Veterans Day in our nation, the students wrote thank you notes and poems to local veterans. After writing rough drafts in their notebook, students copied their gratitude sentences into thank you cards which will be mailed to VFW's in our area.

The contributions made to my classroom are greatly appreciated.”

  • Listening With Ease

    Funded May 9, 2023

It is with since gratitude from myself and my students that you have donated to my Listening with Ease Project.

Our school district has certain programs that 8th grade students use throughout the year for diagnostic testing and learning skills. The program we use has a feature to turn on for the students to be able to have the passage read to them. I teach in a low income city school. The population of students in my 8th grade class have English as their second language. The headphones donated will be a huge help for the students that have a hard time reading and speaking English.

The students are also thrilled to have pencils this year. Some students do not have the means to purchase their own back-to-school supplies. The pencils will help enrich their learning throughout the year.”

    With gratitude,

  • Squeaky Clean!

    Funded May 18, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation to my Squeaky Clean Project. Upon receiving the items I was able to create a station with tissues, paper towels, antibacterial wipes, and hand sanitizer.

Even though it is September some students have been experiencing the common sniffles due to allergies, change of weather, or the common cold. The Kleenex soft tissues have been used daily and in all of my six periods of 8th grade students.

The hand sanitizer is used by my third period class daily before they go to lunch. They are happy to have clean hands before they eat in the cafeteria.

The paper towels have also come in handy the first week of school to clean up water spills in the classroom.

Myself and my students are so thankful for your help!”

    With gratitude,

  • ELD Creativity

    Funded Dec 3, 2022

I want to thank you for your donations toward my classroom project ELD creativity. I was able to laminate webpages, usernames, and passwords for the students who needed help remembering their information.

The English/Spanish dictionaries were a big help when the students had to practice writing essays for the State Standardized Test. The students read a writing prompt about a boy visiting Hawaii and going sight seeing to a volcano. My class was able to connect words to use in their writing prompts to restate the question, answer the question, cite evidence from the text, explain why they chose that citation, and sum up their writing.

Along with our writing strategies, students drew pictures of the volcano to accompany their writing. Students also used the crafts, pencils, and art supplies to make hexagon projects describing 6 characteristics about themselves. The students are having a great time connecting with each other and with our reading while using everything you donated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kile
