Everything I Ever Wanted to Read
Funded May 7, 2024Thank you so much for the generous donation of Everything I Never Told You. It means so much to my students that there are people out there as dedicated to their learning as I am.
What I love about teaching this book is that it helps create a bridge between generations. Through conversations, projects, and interviews, students learn how society has changed. They learn how their parents changed or developed their parenting methods based on their own experiences growing up. It's such an important and interesting lesson that both students and parents learn about themselves and each other.
Finally, having a new book to digest helps keep teachers learning too. I've really enjoyed reading something different. The culture and social interaction in this books has given me so much to consider and take into my own classroom. I am so grateful for the book.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Soto
This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 2 other donors.New Reading Material
Funded Feb 24, 2023Thank you so much for helping me build my classroom library. Through your generosity, we now have books that showcase all of my wonderful students.
I have had several students ask on many occasions to borrow books from the new library, and while they may not fall in love with every book, seeing them read brings me joy.
As part of a new curriculum for the fall, we will use many of these books to do what I call "book talks" where students read a book, summarize it for the class, and then rate the book. This helps other students know if a particular book is right for them.
Thank you again for helping my students!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Soto
A Cleaner Way to Write
Funded Mar 1, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom! Your willingness to donate your resources to better our resources shows how much you care about the education of our future generations.
We have been working hard using the awesome poster board and markers to analyze text in small groups. Furthermore, the poster board and markers have created some "Great" Gatsby projects! Other supplies such as folders and index cards have helped us stay organized when we worked on a large text based character analysis for Honors Book Club.
Finally, we cannot forget our floor sweeper and cleaning supplies! We have never had a cleaner room or better ELA projects!
From the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Soto
