Miss Beauchesne's Students Can Succeed!
Funded Jan 19, 2023I have to admit I was surprised when my project was funded. I really didn't think that there were enough people out there who would think my classroom and my students were worthy of their significant donations.
We use the stationary supplies every day, up at the whiteboard, at desks, but the most important gift we received is the big pile of notebooks
My students are newcomers to this country, and to English, and my job is to introduce them to the sounds of English. I present a song, a poem, a saying, or some other kind of passage two or three times per week. I have presented them each with a notebook which I have divided into sections: alphabet (one page each letter), vowel sounds (one page each vowel sound), consonant blends and diagraphs.
From each passage, I select the new words. Together we discuss the categories described above and they carefully transcribe onto the correct page according to alphabet, vowel and other sounds contained in each word.
The photos show the results of this painstaking, but critical process. Next, we recite the passage orally as a full group, and then they come up and recite it with me individually.
The donated notebooks will help me continue to provide this important tool to each of my newcomers.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Beauchesne
