Funded Oct 3, 2024The students in my classroom are so grateful for your donations and would like to, once again, express their gratitude. We have started reading "The Lines We Cross" by Randa Abdel-Fattah and focusing on the themes of identity, immigration, family, community, and self-discovery. My students are learning to make connections with not only the characters, but their peers and the real-world, too.
Without a doubt, my students are loving the book! We are already 14 chapters into the text and their curious minds constantly want to know what is going to take place next. We've been practicing making predictions and writing from character perspectives, which helps them analyze the text on a deeper level.
Because this book is being taught in my special education class, reading is often a challenge and sometimes even "a chore." These brand new books help my kids access real-world issues and stories that are appropriate for their needs.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Baloulian
