Lasting Books with a Lasting Impact!
Funded Nov 1, 2024I cannot say thank you enough times. Teaching is not easy. Finding books that interest kids is not easy, but this one holds up each year. I am so thankful that we will have hardback books moving forward for our class set. It will improve their longevity, and it just makes me so happy that we are going to be able to keep getting this book in kids hands for more years to come.”

Funded Oct 23, 2024From my club full of students who love to read and enjoy greek mythology, and from all of my student who are learning to love reading, THANK YOU, THANKS YOU, THANK YOU!! I am so lucky to have a community support me as much as I am supported. If I make a special memory for each of these kids, it's all worthwhile.”

Funded Jun 2, 2024Thank you so much for helping me get this project funded ahead of this upcoming school year. This gives me so much time to think through how I will incorporate this flexible seating option as an incentive in my classroom with the PBIS points that my school already implements. I am so appreciative as always to have community support, and I promise I do not take it for granted. I am so proud to work where I work, and I cannot wait to meet and teach my next group of kids!”

Bring Station Rotation to Senator Nation!
Funded Nov 28, 2023This is a much delayed impact letter from me, but this year has just flown by. My students are going to take their state reading test tomorrow, and I cannot begin to describe how helpful it was to have the carts and materials for all the small group prep that they worked on leading up to this.
It always touches my heart how believed in I am as an educator, and I try to pass that same positivity to my students. I really hope that they can feel the support from this community as well. I always tell them about the nice people that get us the things that we couldn't have otherwise, and I never forget how grateful I am.
Thank you so much!”

Funded Mar 31, 2023One of my favorite quotes as an English Language Arts teacher comes from F. Scott Fitzgerald: "That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that you're not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong." As a teacher to 8th graders, finding books that they will relate to, engage with, and enjoy is no easy feat. However, with the help of your generosity, I have been able to fill the shelves in my classroom library with multiple new series that will hook my avid readers, graphic novels that will engage my hesitant readers, and fabulous novels that are perfect for these teens to read as they navigate a very special and challenging part of their young adult life. One of my departments goals for next year is to strengthen our students' reading skills through independent reading. Now my library has more than enough choices for all of my students to choose from going into next year. Another wonderful thing about having the selection that I now do thanks to your help is that these books inspire creativity in my students. I am in the process of uploading students' final project to the photos here so that you can see the creativity that is unlocked in these kids when they have access to great books! Their task was to write a children's book inspired by the tag of a Squishmallow, and so many of them ran wild with the prompt. I'm sure you will be just as impressed with the impact that these great books have had on them as I have been. I also was truly overjoyed to be able to make labels and place them in the new books with each of your names on them. I am forever grateful that you will be a part of my classroom library forever :) Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Funded May 21, 2023I don't know if I can fully express with words how grateful I am to the Donors Choose community and to my friends and family for always supporting me in my efforts to be the best teacher that I can be. It is hard to provide everything that a student needs on any given day to them on my own, and while I have tried in the past, I have been so overwhelmed by the support that I have been given this year from the community. Your donation shows me that people believe not only in me but also in the value of a free and public education. I don't want my students to want for anything, but I know that that is not the world that we live in; however, I am genuinely overjoyed that I will not have to send a student out of my room and to the bathroom anymore to get toilet paper when I don't have a tissue to give them quickly. The smallest needs and things like that can keep students in the classroom and learning, and that is the most important thing for me as a teacher. I hope that you know how much your generosity means to me! Have a wonderful day, week, month, and year!”

Funded Nov 29, 2022Your generosity brightened my year in my classroom more than I can put into words. The financial stress of trying to give my students everything they need to create engaging lesson activities was often too much for me to bare. I am not only thankful that they now have amazing resources to use in the classroom, but I am also so pleased to have seen how well they take care of them. They are just as appreciate as I am of your generosity, and whenever I tell them about the nice people that gave to our classroom, they are just so awestruck.
We have used these materials to make positive propaganda posters during our unit on the Holocaust. We have made cards for senior residents in nursing homes during Valentine's Day. We are made more creative and filled with more possibilities because we had access to these resources, and that just makes the processes of teaching and learning so meaningful this year.
I am looking forward to challenging students to write fiction narratives soon, and I am hoping to be able to coordinate with a children's organization so that they can create a mini-children's book to share with the community. Like I said, y'all inspire me to think and dream big as a teacher in my 8th grade English Language Arts classroom. Thank you for supporting my classroom with your generosity!”

Ms. Ziller
