Miss. D’Amario’s Kindergarten Class
Funded Nov 29, 2022My students were so excited when they received their new math manipulatives and supplies. They could not wait to open them up and be able to use them to learn. Students currently are able to use our classroom calendar each and every morning to do our days of the week and identify what the date is for the day. We sing our days of the week song and then put the appropriately date on our calendar following a pattern of red and yellow.
In math, students are able to use the counting cones and nuts about counting manipulatives to practice their counting. Students are able to use these independently and also in small groups to practice their counting skills. They love using these in our math centers every day and are always eager to play with them. Our magnet tiles have been very helpful during our shapes unit. Students have been able to build houses and different structures and then determine what shapes were used to build their house/structure.
Moving forward, students will be using the magnet tiles to build their template for their construction project. Students are required to build a model before building it with their recycled materials. These magnet tiles will help students create a model before creating their real project. The counting cones and nuts about counting will be used moving forward in math centers so that students can continue to keep up on their counting skills.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Damario
