Stem Mania With Lego

Funded Nov 30, 2022

The 3rd - 5th grade students were gobsmacked when all the boxes of LEGO came in. It became a group project as the students joyously sorted the bricks into the plastic boxes. This color-coding will aid in keeping the race cars separated; we'll know whose is whose. Until we get the track, the students have been having a blast creating their own designs out of the bins. The time creates deep focus, a sense of completion of something that is not judged with a grade. Some kids talk and giggle while they work, and some work in the Zone with quiet focus.

We've had a Fish Palace, the Sand Shrine with Dungeon, the Crab King's Sleigh, the Curs-ed Multi-Eyed Block Monster, and things yet unnamed. This huge set is an art-geometry-physics-personal expression project of near infinite possibilities.

I am so very grateful for your generosity to this project--both named and anonymous! Thank you from all of the students, present and future!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Nelson
