iPads for 2nd Graders
Funded Aug 2, 2023My students are I are so grateful for the donation of the three iPads and protective cases. Our school has Chromebooks for students to use but these are not user friendly, especially for students with fine motor struggles. My students use their iPads for a variety of tasks--visual timers, Scratch Jr. coding, Lexia phonics instruction, Epic online books, prodigy math games, math memory games...etc.
I see my students have more independence and comfort with the iPads in comparison to the Chromebooks and we are so thankful to have had this donation and opportunity. My students love to earn iPad time as a reward for positive behavior as well. Thank you so much for the donation and for making technology more accessible.”

Funded Dec 11, 2022Thank you for the donation of the wobble stools and the sensory items. Before the donation, we had two wobble stools and five students. We had to have a schedule for who had the wobble stools on what day. All students benefitted from using the wobble stools and we wanted to have enough for everyone to have one. Now, with the donation, we have been able to give each student a wobble stool to use every day. When we got the delivery, students were excited and helped me put the materials together. We use these every day and students get to move safely while they learn. We also use the sensory items in our calm down corner. When students get upset, they can choose fidgets to use in order to calm down and get ready to learn. These timers are not only fun to squish but also are visually appealing. Students have enjoyed using these!

Funded Nov 16, 2022Thank you so much for our fabulous sensory bins and sensory materials! Our class loves to use these on breaks from the cognitive load of second grade! Students enjoy using their hands to explore the materials alone or with a partner. They are learning team work, cooperation, creativity, setting boundaries, and patience all while getting to have fun and have some sensory experiences.
Students were thrilled when the boxes arrived and we set up the different materials together. They rotated through the different sensory bins, exploring the snow, the sand, and the water beads. We added some lavender oil to the water beads to add another sense into the experience. Students are drawn to the sensory bins as their break throughout our day and I find that our new students gravitate towards these as well.
The sensory bins continue to be a hit in our classroom and are always available as an option for break time. As the snow gets a little older, we will work on replacing this with more water beads and different essential oils. It is a joy to watch my students explore these materials and experience hands-on multi-sensory learning!”
