Building Literacy, One Book at a Time:Sped Ed Library

Funded Oct 28, 2024

Our new texts are introducing important skills like identifying the main idea, making inferences, and analyzing character development. These books are also sparking meaningful discussions, helping students think critically and connect with what they read.

In our classroom, reading is interactive and engaging. Students read independently, in pairs, and in small groups, with plenty of opportunities to discuss and share their thoughts. Read-alouds help model thinking strategies, and students are encouraged to use text evidence to support their ideas.

I've noticed some students especially enjoying the new books! [Student A] loves the nonfiction selections and eagerly shares facts, while [Student B], who was once hesitant, has found a series they're excited about. It's been amazing to see their enthusiasm grow!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Emelyn
