  • Booked for Success

    Funded Oct 5, 2024

Thank you so much for funding the project, "Booked for Success." Because of you, my students now have gotten to experience new and exciting books. We actually completed our first sustained silent reading day today and the kids thoroughly enjoyed it. They got to pick books of their choosing and receive a grade for reading something they like in class! These book projects are helping students learn how to fall in love with reading by exposing them to different genres and authors. I can't wait until these books hit the shelves!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Dudek

  • Cabinet Fever

    Funded Jun 26, 2024

Thank you so much for funding the project, "Cabinet Fever." My classroom previously had no storage space, including cabinets or counters to put supplies on or hide them away. Storage space is crucial in being able to hold student notebooks, pens, pencils, and other necessary classroom supplies. Some other teachers in the building get the luxury of having multiple office spaces to keep their supplies in! I was in desperate need of storage space! Because of the cabinet purchased within this project, I have been successfully able to put my supplies in there without the interference of losing supplies or supplies being moved around. Thank you!”

  • Bringing Back Banned and Better Books

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for funding the project, "Bringing Back Banned and Better Books." Thanks to you, my students will now be exposed to books they don't get to experience within their curriculum because they are banned or because they were published more than 10 years ago. Since putting the books on the bookshelves, my students have gained interest in reading more. I have actually decided to use the books in this order to do multiple sustained silent reading lessons where students can choose the book they want to read for the day!”

    Ms. Dudek

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and 2 other donors.
  • In Serious Need of Series

    Funded Oct 4, 2024

Thank you so much for funding the project, "In Serious Need of Series." My students are so excited to be receiving these series, especially because most of my students are unfamiliar with The Hunger Games series as it turns out! These books have gotten the kids excited to read during the silent sustained reading lessons and I now have kids asking if they can stay during my off periods to read a book of their choice. It has really been a wonderful experience to see my students get excited about reading!”

    With gratitude,

  • Bookworms Delight

    Funded Jun 23, 2024

Thank you so much for funding the project, "Bookworm Delight." My students are really excited to read books that are catching their eye. Literally, they will now walk past the bookshelves and stop to read the titles of what has been added. I have even gotten some "OOOH Can I read this?" as they walk past. I am looking forward to the students utilizing these books to read something that interests them. My hope is that they learn to fall in love with reading or at least discover what genre they like to read best!”

    With gratitude,

  • Thank Greek Gods

    Funded Jun 23, 2024

Thank you for donating to the project, "Thank Greek Gods." My students from last year were very excited when I told them about the book club idea based on this book. They since have asked me every single day when the books were coming (even when this project wasn't funded yet). Their anticipation made me very hopeful and excited for this project to get funded. These students who now are juniors have asked again about the books to which I happily reported that we now have more books so that more students can join the book club and read with us!”

  • The Tortured Bard Department

    Funded Jun 9, 2024

Thank you for donating to the project, "The Tortured Bard Department." My students got really excited last year reading Shakepeare's "Macbeth" after not being exposed to Shakespeare previously. This year, I have gained a headstart on Shakespeare positivity by adding Shakespearean elements to my classroom. The students are intrigued as to why I now have a skull in my classroom which makes them excited to read Shakespeare later this year! Additionally, the books tissue box gets used daily as cold and flu season approaches.”

  • Achieve the ImPOSTERable

    Funded Jun 13, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to the project, "Achieve the imPOSTERable." We have so many posters reviewing the concepts that we barely have any blank space on the wall! The students have used them to remember concepts they were taught in prior English classes as well as a reference to new learning they have gained in my class! I also have set up the pencil dispenser so that students may get a pencil one at a time to limit lost or broken pencils in the classroom. The students actually like going up to get their pencil dispensed!”

  • Make Your Mark

    Funded Jun 4, 2024

At the start of the school year, I ask that students create a name tag and decorate it based off of things that are meaningful to them. These name tags are critical in helping me learn student names swiftly and efficiently. They also mean a lot to the students as this is their first opportunity to show me part of their personality and identity. Because of your project, I was able to offer them different colors and types of markers to decorate their name tag. The supplies in this project made them excited to do this project and more class projects to come!”

  • A Space for Notes

    Funded Jun 18, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to "A Space for Notes." Because of this project, I was able to get a head start on distributing class notebooks instead of stressing about finding all 130 notebooks I need for this year! I was actually able to plan ahead for next year and buy the notebooks for next year ahead of time thanks to this project! Before giving them their notebooks for the school year, I taught them how to organize and write notes. Now, in these notebooks, students have written down new vocabulary and class notes, setting them up for success!”
