Help My Students Say Focused and Engaged!
Funded Oct 31, 2024I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for your generous donation to our classroom project. Your support has made a significant difference in helping our students stay focused and engaged in their learning. Thanks to your contribution, each student now has access to a footband and a calming strip on their desk—tools that have proven invaluable in minimizing distractions and promoting a focused learning environment.
During lessons, these tools have helped students complete their work without relying on typical fidgets, which often led to more distractions and playing. The footbands provide a subtle way for students to move, while the calming strips on their desks offer a tactile method for managing their need to fidget. Many students have shared how these tools allow them to stay on task without losing focus or disrupting their peers.
Additionally, the calming strips have been instrumental in helping students apply the mindfulness techniques they've learned. By using the strips, students are able to pause and ground themselves, which has proven effective in reducing stress and anxiety. This small yet powerful tool has enhanced their ability to remain calm, focus better, and fully engage with their lessons.

Kish Cats Need a New Carpet!
Funded Nov 11, 2022We are so thankful for your donation to our classroom rug. When I told my students that I was trying to get donations for a new rug, my students were so excited. They had numerous questions about it, and even helped to pick out the design. They wanted to make sure it fit our classroom "aesthetic". Within only a short few hours, because of your donations, I was able to come into school the next day and during our morning meeting, I was able to share with them, that it was funded and we would be able to get our new rug. For the next few weeks before receiving the rug, there was at least one student each day asking when it would be coming. They were SO excited.
The rug arrived a few days before Christmas break. They were elated. When our custodian brought it to our classroom, they were so excited. They decided that we had a lot of activities going on that week, and that they wanted to wait until January, to start the new year off with a fresh new rug for them to use. When they came back in January to a new, clean rug for them to sit and do work on they were so excited. Our first morning meeting of the new year took place on our new rug, and of course they had to discuss the pro's and con's of having a black rug.
This rug as not only helped with facilitating our morning meetings, and giving students a comfortable place to work outside of their desks, but it has also helped create ownership within our classroom. Students take turns vacuuming the rug, so that it is clean and ready for our morning meeting. They have taken pride in keeping it clean, and love the opportunity to help with the cleaning.
We plan to continue to foster a positive classroom environment with our daily morning meetings, and look forward to continue to work collaboratively in groups on it. Thank you again for the generosity you have shown to our classroom. We are all incredibly grateful.”
