  • The Best Adaptive Physical Education Experience!

    Funded Nov 30, 2024

On behalf of my students and the P141K Physical Education Department, I extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation. Because of your support, we were able to purchase new equipment that has made a tremendous impact on our students' physical education experience. These resources have truly transformed our lessons and provided our students with engaging, developmentally appropriate opportunities to build their motor skills, coordination, and teamwork.

The excitement in our students' eyes when they first saw the new materials was unforgettable! Many of our students, particularly those with autism and sensory processing challenges, thrive when they have access to structured, hands-on learning tools. The colored weighted bowling set has been an instant favorite, helping students develop hand-eye coordination and confidence as they take turns rolling and throwing the ball to knock the pins down.

As we continue integrating these resources into our curriculum, our next focus is on starting our soccer unit, especially now that we have adapted equipment to ensure accessibility for all students. The soccer goal has provided the perfect opportunity to introduce modified team sports, especially with team vests, giving students the chance to practice turn-taking, sportsmanship, and goal-setting in an inclusive environment. We are excited to see how this unit will foster teamwork and skill development among our students.

Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in our students' lives, and we are beyond grateful for your investment in their growth and well-being. Special shoutouts to Samuel, Akim, and Mission Tiger; Thank you for giving them the tools they need to succeed, not just in physical education but in developing skills that will serve them throughout their lives”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chen

  • An Awesome Adaptive Physical Education Experience!

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

We at P141K are immensely grateful for your support in making our physical education program the best that our special needs students could ever ask for. Physical Education is a class that all my students look forward to and they all need it to help self-regulate themselves, become healthier, learn, move their bodies, and of course have fun. When the project was fulfilled in the summer and the boxes of P.E. equipment came into my gym, my students were all super excited to see what kind of activities, equipment, and fun things were in these boxes. They showed their excitement by helping me unbox these items, showing curiosity about some of them, and even helping me make space for them in our P.E. closet.

The resources were used mostly this school year and created many different activities such as obstacle courses involving the crawl tunnel for my grades K-2, parachute activities that created an inclusive and engaging environment, an addition in our sport stacking unit, and competitive play through the score tracker. Many of these resources have helped facilitate a collaborative environment in which students have to work together, communicate, and feel included in the gymnasium, which benefits the students as they are hitting all the checkmarks of P.E. when it comes to being social, getting their movement, and self-regulating their emotions.

Looking ahead, my current focus is on expanding the range of adaptive P.E. activities and integrating more collaborative projects. I plan to create a series of team-building exercises that combine physical activity with social interaction, promoting communication and cooperation among students. Your generosity has truly made a significant difference in the lives of our special needs students. Once again thank you for being champions of inclusion and empowerment in our class. Have a wonderful holiday and a happy New Year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chen

  • A Fun Adaptive Physical Education

    Funded Nov 11, 2022

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read about our project and then giving the generous donations which helped make our project a success. Our school is a Title 1 low socio-economic special needs District 75 school. We service students with the most severe disabilities such as physical, cognitive, or emotional in New York City. Our students range from age 4(pre-kindergarten) to 13-14 years old (8th grade). These materials will be able to create engaging units and allow our students to develop physically, emotionally, and socially in physical education.

For example, we are able to now do a Floor Hockey unit thanks to the hockey sticks that were generously donated to us. The students were extremely excited and happy when they saw the hockey sticks and are excited to learn how to use them! The other materials helped with running the gymnasium and lessons smoothly such as magnets and masking tape which are used for targets, hanging up posters, and letting students know where to sit. My students loved all the materials that were donated especially the Jenga Set as they never got to experience activities and things like that. They loved playing with each other while trying to build the tallest tower without having it fall!

Once again, we truly appreciate your generosity and know that you truly made an everlasting impact on our children!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Chen
