Newsflash: Covering the news at PVJH!
Funded Nov 5, 2022Newsflash... a big thank you!
The environment within our school's News Class can simulate the stress of a job when faced with producing the school's daily announcements, social media content, and miscellaneous tasks assigned directly by the Principal. When students were informed that we had received funding through the Donors Choose Program, they were so excited! This was even more relevant to the students in my class because they actually participated in selecting the equipment needed, so they were fully vested in this grant application.
Immediately after receiving the video and audio equipment, we made a video short thanking "Donors Choose" and posted it on our YouTube Channel, and on Facebook. The Audio equipment provided was then used to further enhance the Pauls Valley Junior High News Episodes. We incorporated the "lapel microphones" into production and our audio quality was vastly improved. These "News Episodes" are shared with all teachers and students, watched during the 5th period following announcements, posted on our YouTube channel, and shared on the school's Facebook page.
The video editing equipment "Tour Box Elite" is currently being used to edit and enhance videos, such as our most recent "Spring Break" video short. This editing device is a very powerful tool with even more capabilities than we were originally aware of. Students are continuing to learn and master valuable video-editing skills, such as timeline navigation, video trimming, color grading with a knob, and dial or scroll in video/audio editing.
Thank you so much for participating in this program, it has been such a rewarding experience for both myself and the students. The fact that students are more confident in the quality of what we produce and are now actually promoting and attempting to boost our social media reach with a significantly increased effort is a true measure of success!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Grimmett
