Hands-On Math, Reading, and Writing

2 years ago, our school adopted the Choose Love (social emotional learning) program. However, although we had access to videos and lessons from Choose Love, we were not provided with SEL books to read to our students. With your generous donation, we were able to purchase SEL books to read to our students and make connections with the text to real life events.

We also needed new student whiteboards for our kindergarteners to practice writing their letters/words. Since we ordered the magnetic whiteboards, we were able to use it for math (using manipulatives to add) then writing matching number sentences.

I also had a few students struggling with phonics. With the purchase of the Lakeshore Emergent Readers books, they were able to decode the text easily and move up from a DRA level 1 reader to a DRA level 2 reader in just 1 month. Thank you for helping our kindergarteners become better readers, mathematicians, and be able to express their emotions constructively. We appreciate all of you.”
