  • No More Noise

    Funded Apr 17, 2025

Thank you so much for your contributions to my classroom! These noise cancelling headphones will be a prized resource in my room that will provide students with a way to stay focused even if other things are going on around them. Thank you for your generosity and choosing us to to receive it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nakagawa

  • Opening Doors Through a Variety of Texts!

Thank you so much for your very generous donation! I can't wait to introduce my fourth graders to these amazing titles and hopefully share my passion and love for literature! Donors like you help keep our classrooms a place where learning can thrive! We appreciate you and everything you do, so much!”

    Mrs. Nakagawa

  • Books, Art and Supplies- Oh My!

    Funded Mar 11, 2025

Thank you so much for the donations made to my 4th grade classroom! My students have been thrilled with our new supplies! We are already planning what to paint next and there are arguments over using our new broom- can you believe that??

One of the most impactful donations so far was our class set of over the ear headphones. I teach a inclusion class mixed with general education students and students with IEPs. Many of my IEP students were expressing that my class set of earbuds hurt their ears or were uncomfortable, and they were so happy to have a new option that covers their ears instead!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nakagawa

  • Supplies for Students' Academic and Emotional Needs

    Funded Oct 16, 2024

Your donations have had a huge impact in my room! My students are so excited to see our books displayed in the classroom and rush to pick out their favorite ones! The noise canceling headphones have become one of the most sought after resources in my classroom, inspiring me to create another Donors Choose project to get a class set. The students love blocking out the noise of the school and the amount of focus I've seen come from them is insane! Thank you so much for creating this opportunity for us!”

    With gratitude,

  • Books To Engage All Readers

    Funded Jan 22, 2024

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for your donations that helped bulk out my classroom library and brought a variety of books that are truly engaging readers of all types.

I teach a inclusion classroom, which means I teach general ed students and students with IEPs in the same classroom. The books that were donated in this Donor's Choose project have expanded not only the literacy levels of my library, but the variety of topics that my students have to choose from.

Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness towards our class!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nakagawa

  • Marvelous and Masterful Mentor Texts

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

Thank you so much for donating these amazing mentor texts to our classroom. My students have been so excited to explore all of our new books and I have been excited to create lessons based around them.

Some of our new books even have pages related to the island we live on. I added a picture from a page of one of the books that teaches about Portuguese Man of War, a siphonophore that regularly graces our shores. When the kids saw this page they loved it and wanted to show everyone!

Thank you for helping me engage my students in learning and get them interested in reading. Without your donations this wouldn't be possible!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nakagawa

  • Student Clubs Encourage Community

    Funded Nov 18, 2023

Thank you for your donation towards helping me facilitate after school clubs at my elementary school. We have already finished our Passport on a Plate Club and we had so much fun!

The students learned about different countries and tried snacks from that country. We also made crafts, listened to music, and read stories from the cultures we learned about. Some of my students have never left Oahu, so this was a huge eye-opener for them.

Without your donations we wouldn't have been able to expand these students' world views.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nakagawa

  • Science Shouldn't Be on the Back Burner

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you do much for donating all of these science materials to our classroom! Science is so often left till the last minute or taught without fidelity in elementary, even though I have found that elementary school students typically are the most engaged and interested in the sciences.

My students were enthralled by our new Newton's cradle, which we used to discuss transfer of energy and collisions. Many of them demanded to know "WHERE did I BUY that?!" so that they could find one for themselves.

They were also so tickled by "A Chip of the Old Block" and identifying aspects of erosion, weathering, and deposition as we were reading. The have loved having access to all the new informational texts as well!

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Nakagawa

This classroom project was brought to life by General Motors & Young Sheldon on CBS and 2 other donors.
