Part 3: A Counselor's Snacktastic Way of Gaining Trust
Funded Feb 22, 2023The snacks are making a huge impact. Students, who I don't know are visiting the guidance suite just to get a snack. This has opened the door for me to introduce myself and speak with more and more students.
A while back a young man, who recently lost his dad stopped in because he heard I had snacks. His visit opened the door for me to connect him with one of our social workers, so he can begin processing his feelings and talking to someone about everything he is going through. Now he stops by for a granola bar and piece of chocolate whenever he has a session with our social worker.
I'm so grateful for your support. Thank you for helping me become a positive influence in the lives of the young people at my school.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Maylor

Just this week, a student who frequents my office brought a friend to come talk to me (and enjoy a snack!) The friend was struggling with keeping her grades up while battling with circumstances at home. Through our discussion she was able to leave with skills/strategies to improve her mindset and outlook on life.
I'm so grateful for your support. Thank you for helping me become a positive influence in the lives of the young people at my school.”
