Focus on School, Not Hungry Bellies
Funded Nov 4, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity! My students love to have snack and now I have so many options. Each child enjoys getting a choice snack because their tastes are so different. When the packages came in, each student was picking out which snack would be their favorite.
We have been able to enjoy snack at the end of each day. We have an early lunch so by the end of the day, many kids are hungry, and stressed about when they are going to get more food. We are able to focus on the task at hand without worrying about if there is going to be enough snack, or a snack that they will enjoy. We were able to get some spicy Taki snacks and some kids think they are the best snack ever. I also have some who prefer a more mellow snack and the crackers and pretzels satisfy their needs better.
I have also been able to offer breakfast for my students who come into school late. It is hard enough to have to come in late, but when you are hungry because you are rushed, it makes the day even more difficult. These students deal with enough challenges in their lives without adding being hungry.

Funded Aug 12, 2023Thank you so much for supporting this project. My students were thrilled to receive new items for our classroom. They each take turn organizing, and rearranging the books so that their favorites are in the front.
When the packages started to arrive, my students would all want to see what was in the box. It was like a new gift that they each wanted to have. Everyone wanted to be the first to read the new book. I have loved seeing my students excited to read! The new display allows for easy viewing of books rather than tucked away from sight.
The headsets have worked wonders for some of the lower readers because they can listen to stories and follow along without struggling in front of their peers. An added bonus is that many of the books are about dealing with emotions and problems that many elementary students can relate to. They are becoming problem solvers through reading.
We were also able to make gifts with paint for our grandparents or other special adults in their lives. We were able to paint them and then laminate the final product for a permanent keepsake. I am excited to use these tools this year, but also in the future. Thank you again for allowing great things to happen!”

Funded Nov 5, 2022Thank you so much for helping out our class with a color printer and new headphones with microphones for all students!
This year, my class was able to complete a Tradition Around the World Project thanks to your help. We were able to make copies of flags, maps, and foods that the children were able to see in color in centers. Being able to see and learn about different cultures in color brings more to the experience.
We have also been able to use our headphone for enrichment and testing activities this year. Instead of only being able to offer worksheets or physical books to students who finish work, we have been able to take advantage of many free programs that have differentiated instruction. The students have been able to participate in game based learning and individualized work without disputing others.
Many students have enjoyed listening to audiobooks this year. My class does have a library as well as the school, but it is impossible to have every book or multiple copies. My lower readers can also participate in reading stories without assistance from others.
