    Funded Mar 6, 2025

Your kind donation now provides my toddlers and school age children an opportunity to enhance receptive, expressive and social pragmatic language skills through play. We are so grateful for your generosity!”

  • Multi-sensory Language and Literacy iPad

    Funded Dec 19, 2022

As a speech-language pathologist working with a diverse group of students, technology is critical to engagement and learning. Several of my students benefit from hands-on activities, as well as tactile, kinesthetic, and audiovisual support. Because of your generous gift, students are afforded an opportunity to use several apps and online sites during small group activities.

The iPad is used to target receptive language skills such as following directives with embedded linguistic concepts, improving oral language (spoken communication), and overall expressive communication. App based activities are sometimes used in conjunction with worksheet tasks. My students also enjoy timed screen time as a reward or earned time to explore educational applications. This resource is especially helpful for student with attentional issues or sensory needs. Again, I am grateful for your support of our school community and scaling up educational opportunity for a low-income area in NYC.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Espeut

  • Language and Literacy Enrichment for School-Age Children

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

My students especially benefited from the sequencing fun deck cards and inference flash cards. The resources aided them in improving comprehension of story structure and sequenced events. The cards were paired with visual aids (i.e., graphic organizers) to outline story details. Several students were excited to see the new materials that allowed them to underline details, manipulate cards during sequencing tasks, and roll dice during game based activities. Additionally, the use of manipulatives are critical for students who require sensory support.

I am grateful for the speech-language materials to enhance auditory comprehension, oral language, and literacy skills for diverse learners in a high needs and low income community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Espeut

  • Resources for Inference Skill Building

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

Thank you for the time to support this initiative. My elementary school students benefited greatly from the funded inference resources. They used the inference skill strips to draw conclusions with pictorial support. I planned lessons that required students to review pictures and later make inferences based on a variety of categories. Students inferred based on semantic and visual cues. They built their understanding of cause and effect, attribute, contrast, and sequenced events.

The inference picture strips were used during guided instruction, student-led group, and independent practice. It was extremely helpful to use this resource prior to reading comprehension tasks for visualization skills. Duly, the WH questions combination and Granny's Candies game-based activities were well received. Students appreciated a semi-structured activity where they manipulated objects during learning. This was especially useful for my visual and kinesthetic learners.

Thank you for the commitment to the academic success of low-income students.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Espeut
