Getting Comfy & Cozy with Flexible Seating in the Classroom!
Funded Oct 21, 2024I am not sure where to even begin. This was my first project that I ever got funded, and I could not be more grateful for this opportunity thanks to you and your generosity. A little bit about myself, I have been an Occupational Therapist for 8 years and have been working at The Richard H. Hungerford School for majority of that time. The students we service have many involved challenges including but not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory Processing disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Intellectual and learning disabilities amongst others. I work with the most amazing students and this year I was able to provide them with new sensory related opportunities and some that were never available to them before.
This project that was funded included flexible seating bounce chairs, tactile fidget keychains, sensory tactile stickers to place on desks, wiggle seats, and wobble chair feet. All of these tools have been distributed and have been successfully used by my students who need movement and support in the classrooms!
These items have been so successful for our students. The bounce chairs, wiggle seats and wobble chair feet helped our students remain seated in the classroom while providing them some movement. The tactile fidgets helped our students refocus themselves. All of these tools help our students stay calm and focused and ready to learn!
Thank you again for this opportunity and for your help. I am so excited for the future and hope to continue to provide students with the sensory tools they need to succeed!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Daniela
