Funded Nov 5, 2022This project has created a new area in the high school library to display books. This new area is colorful and visually engaging and is called dynamic shelving. The books sit with their covers facing similar to what you see in a bookstore compared to the normal way books are shelved in a library with only their spines showing. I lined the back of the shelving with blue paper to help the books stand out
I was able to purchase many newly published books with this funding. I displayed the books with their front covers facing out to help entice students to read them. I also group books together that are in a series to help students find them. I rotate books out depending on holidays such as displaying black authors for black history month.
I also purchased large book and reading stickers similar to what you place on a water bottle or a laptop to give as incentives when students check out a book from this new section. This funding is helping make it easier for students to access books and provide an motivation for reading.”
With gratitude,
