  • Fidgets for Reading Success

    What a difference the fidgits have made in my students' and my classroom experience. So many of my students have pent up energy and poor concentration skills due to the trauma they have been through during the pandemic and even in prior. With the fidgits, students can learn self-control and focus in on their work while acknowledging their physical needs. Best of all, the fidgits have allowed my students to be reflective on the importance of self-care and self-awareness. They can now communicate better and advocate better for themselves in the classroom setting. In addition, the books you have provided have been a welcome and appreciated addition to their workday.

  • Individual Reading for English Language Learners

    Thank you so very much for funding my independent reading book project. My students were very surprised to see such a large array of books for them to choose from. I wanted to keep the project unknown to them as I didn't know for sure if it would be funded, and I didn't want to discourage them from sticking with their current library books. But my well guarded secret was worth the anticipation when they rushed to pick through and skim the various titles.

    My students focus on close reading with an annotation and response protocol that requires them to attend to detail and reflect deeply. Each day after their independent reading period, students record their thoughts on what they read--characters, conflicts, content--and write a short response that connects the text to their world. The books in this collection are rich in vocabulary and themes that will strengthen their reading skills and make them assured of their abilities.
