STEM Discovery
Funded Jul 30, 2023Thanks so much for the Scholastic SuperSTEM Magazines. I teach Earth Science on the STEM Team and my students were fascinated when they browsed through the magazine. They were most excited at seeing real-world topics in which they could relate to.
We focus heavily on literacy in all classes. After midterms, students opened the digital scholastic magazine and chose an article to read. Some students chose to read from a printed copy. They completed a Main Ideas graphic organizer from the digital lessons provided. They also pulled detailed evidence from each section of the article. Students went around the room summarizing the articles they read. Everyone was engaged. Great class discussions took place. We even talked about the upcoming solar eclipse. I saw the power of discovery take place within my classroom. Thanks again.”

Funded May 21, 2023Yesterday I received all four of my wobble chairs. I was super-excited and couldn't wait to take them out of the boxes. I rearranged my classroom when the students left at the end of the day. This morning when my homeroom students walked in the classroom, they were so surprised and happy. Everybody got a chance to spin around in the wobble chairs. My principal also stepped into the classroom and tried out one of the wobble chairs. She really liked them.
During science class, I observed my students rocking back and forth as they quietly did their class assignment. They were engaged. They seemed at peace with no signs of stress. When asked how they felt, they all answered "very comfortable!"
We are getting ready to do learning stations so all of my students will eventually get to rotate over to the wobble chairs station. Thanks again for this great gift.”
