Camera, Lights, Action Part 2
Funded Oct 25, 2022Thank you so much for your kind donations and for giving my students the opportunity to use technology more productively. Our young leaders spend a lot of time on social media and with their smart phones, but very little time on the productive aspect of technological tools. Thanks to your donations, my students are learning about other tech devices used to advance their career objectives. Having them come up with a script and plan the scenes has been a blessing! They are eager to imitate the news anchors and to improvise in front of the cameras. I had a particular student who has only been in school twice since school started. On her second day she did not want to go home because all she wanted to do was play karaoke. It may seem insignificant to some, but just having her step inside the building is a significant improvement. She is now more motivated to come in and socialize with others. She has been locked in the house for so long and needs things like this to come out of her shell.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Angeles

Funded Oct 21, 2022During the COVID pandemic people were abruptly forced to use technology for every mode of communication with people outside their household. Students from low income families and immigrants had the biggest learning curve. The language barrier and the inability to pay for internet added to the difficulties students faced. Despite these challenges our school community and parents were able to rise to the challenge. This forced people to become technologically proficient in many areas and lost the fears some people had about conducting business online.
Our school community learned to use technology to have things translated into their language, to meet and get academic and social emotional services via zoom, and to complete assignments in google classroom. Technology has made it possible for students to learn even when they do not step foot into the building. Returning to school for in-person learning has been difficult because people got used to being home. These new products in this project will motivate students to come to school and to express themselves through role plays.
My students loved the camera equipment and microphones. The students who would usually get in trouble now want to behave so that they can be part of the drama club. They are very excited about producing short plays and assembling the different technology items that came. The students who usually cry for attention are now getting it in a more productive manner. Thanks to your donation my students are having the time of their lives while also learning. Thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Angeles
