Fostering Emergent Literacy in Our Littlest Learners
Funded Mar 26, 2025THANK YOU! We could have not done this without you. 🙏🏼 We cannot wait to receive our items and continue this learning journey. Literacy is the foundation to learning and we are glad we get to continue fostering that through this project. You are making a difference! Funded Nov 20, 2024We (kids and us included) LOVE our new sensory table! These past three months have been filled with fun and our opportunity to provide meaningful sensory experiences have been endless. Incorporating the unit of study throughout the classroom has been made easier with our 4 bin sensory table. During our structure unit, children had the opportunity to build using sand, and mini bricks. Children were also able to explore different materials used for building like, dirt, mud, and oobleck (which resembled cement.) During our transportation unit, children had the opportunity to engage in a car wash! Using soapy water and foam vehicles we were able to make our learning hands-on. Now, during our recycling unit children are scooping through beans to find "trash" that they can recycle.
Throughout all of these experiences (and more) children have been able to strengthen their fine-motor skills, as well as their cognitive skills. Children have been scooping, digging, pouring, and grasping items using different tools like; shovels, cups, tweezers, spoons, funnels, and molds. They have been sorting, identifying, and counting which is great to see! We can't wait to see what else we can do with our wonderful sensory table. It has been a great addition to our classroom and we could not have done it without you 🫶🏼”

Fostering Collaboration
Funded May 14, 2024We would love to thank you all for your contributions to our project. We received our materials towards the end of the previous school year and we could not wait till September to switch out our beautiful carpet. We wanted our kiddos, at that time, to enjoy the carpet even if it was for a bit. Our children were very excited to see our new circle time carpet, as were we! This year children were just as excited to participate and collaborate during our morning meetings. Our carpet has provided a comfortable space for children to enjoy read alouds, and work together to build letters, solve floor puzzles and much more. Children were just as excited to start using the cooperative games, which were introduced to strengthening their turn taking skills. This could not be done without your help. 🫶🏼”

Funded Oct 12, 2023Thank you for coming together to make this project a reality for our little three year olds! Our LEGO stand has been a big hit with our little ones, especially during our building unit and LEGO day celebration. Not only have children been able to expand on their building skills, but they have strengthen their sense of collaboration. Children were able to share the same space and materials to accomplish their goals- whether that be creating a road, a rocket ship, and/or a house. It was exciting to see their little faces light up at the reveal of this new tool. We appreciate your kindness greatly. Thank you!”

Funded Nov 11, 2022Class 3K-104 would love to start by saying thank you! Thank you for your generous contribution to our project. We initially introduced the materials that we received during our senses unit, back in November. Children used their sense of sight to describe the various animals that they saw in the science viewers. They were amazed at all of the animals that they could see, that are not generally found in NYC. It was also an added tool that was easy to use, as children simple added the disk and pulled the lever. Even through the last day of school children were still excited to use the animal science viewers and not only name the animal but share facts about that animal-- it was great to see.
The light table was introduced a bit earlier, around October, when we were talking about our bodies. During that time we had transformed our dramatic play area into a doctor's office and children use the light table to examine x-rays! It was an exciting experience, as children were able to view x-rays as authentically as possible. Children also used the light table with magna-tiles, which again was another opportunity for them to use a loved manipulative, like magna-tiles, in a different way.
We have concluded this year, but our next step is to revamp our classroom space by replacing the rugs found in our meeting, block and library area. We would appreciate your continued support! 💙”
