A Clear and Colorful Classroom
Funded Jan 13, 2025Thank you so much for your generous donation! With your donation of whiteboard markers and erasers, dry erase sleeves, and labels, I have been able to create ELA and math center stations that the students have used to engage in independent learning.
Additionally, these materials have been so helpful in fostering my students' independence on their work for our current unit of study on birds and their importance to our wildlife community. Students are currently learning to create scientific drawings of birds and to write about how their unique beaks, wings, and feet help them survive. I have been able to use materials like the large sharpie markers and laminating sheets to create anchor charts and reference materials that students use to independently complete their assignments.
Looking ahead, the students will use the cardstock paper to create a matching riddle game, where they will draw a detailed scientific illustration of a bird that they researched and write a matching riddle card. I am so grateful for your support in helping me nurture my students' content knowledge and positive academic behaviors.”

Ms. M.
Hands-On Learning!
Funded Jan 19, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation! Your contribution to our classroom has made such an incredible impact on my students' learning and growth. Because of your donation, I have been able to create a wealth of reference materials, learning scaffolds, and activities that are differentiated according to my student's needs. My students have been able to work much more independently and productively using the dry erase-pockets and markers to solve problems or gather ideas.
Much of the work that students have done this year has been on the computer due to the increasing emphasis placed on technology literacy. However, your donations of ink and paper have brought my students' typed work to life. Because of this donation, I have been able to hold publishing parties, where students present and review colorful, physical copies of each other's final written pieces. Being able to hold a physical copy of the work that they have poured so much time and thought into has invaluably boosted my students' confidence as authors and editors.”

Ms. M.
This classroom project was brought to life by Someone who cares about New York City and one other donor. The Power of Active Engagement…and Paper!
Funded Dec 31, 2022My students and I are so incredibly grateful for your contribution to the learning and growth inside our classroom. Because of your donation, I have been able to provide differentiated materials and reference papers to help all of my students work more independently, which has definitely made them more prepared to finish fifth grade strong and head to sixth grade with the work ethic they need to succeed. Additionally, it's especially enriching for me as a teacher to see students using these colorful printed materials to help them overcome challenges on their own.
Further, the printer has done wonders for my students' confidence as writers/authors. I have been able to create physical copies of all the stories that students have created this year. I have a large chunk of students who reach for these peer-authored stories as their first choice during independent reading. They have genuinely enjoyed reading each others' stories, leaving comments on their peers' work, and looking at the feedback that their peers have left for them. And I certainly can attest to this, as they keep asking me when we we will next type and print even more stories!”
With gratitude,
Ms. M.
