    Thank you so much for your generous contribution to my project. My newcomer students were thrilled to unwrap the new books to work with. Especially since they now don't have to share!

    Six weeks in and we have read several of these books already. This series aligns perfectly to the reading intervention curriculum so it reinforces all of the skills we have been working on. Having two sets of these books allow for all students to have their own copy to use.

    I'm so thankful for your support as they transition into readers. All of these books provide opportunities for them to practice in a manner that respects their age as learners. Practice makes progress!”

  • Asylum Seekers Seek Comic Books

    Thank you so much for your generous contribution to this project. The graphic novel lending library is a huge hit! Students cannot wait for their turn to borrow a book. The Spanish language Dogman and Babysitter Little Sister series are the most popular ones.

    These books keep my students engaged in reading in their native language at home. Each week they can borrow a different book to bring home for one week. Since the lending library has started, some students have even transitioned to the English language Dogman books.

    Thank you again for supporting my project. Many of my students are Asylum seekers and have been on a long arduous journey before arriving in New York City. These books bring them joy and continue to foster their love of reading.”
