  • It's Time to Read!

    Funded Jan 12, 2024

We are truly grateful for your generous donations. Students really enjoy reading the Emergent books during ELA. Your donation is helping students achieve their reading goals. Students are now able to read books on their levels. The Emergent books are supporting my students in so many ways. I am able to teach students many reading skills. The English Language Learners are so grateful because these books offer picture support and sight words to help them read. The students are so excited to read the books during independent reading time. I have been using the books to teach a new skill as well to the students. We discuss prediction, retelling, main idea, inference among other skills.

Every day I sit with a different group and we discuss a skill for the day such as main idea, prediction, or inference. We read the books together. Then students go back to their seats and read their independent books and apply that skill. The students also love to partner read with these books. They support and help each other. They know and understand we are here to learn together.

The struggling readers are really enjoying these books. Many of the books we had were way above their reading level. These books are perfect because it supports the needs of each English Language Learner. The students have made and are making significant progress with their fluency. Each day they continue to build their confidence and are so proud of themselves. Your donation is a lasting gift. Thank you again so much for helping my students achieve their reading goals.”
