• Hanging On To Culture

  It is because of your donations that we can begin planning for our yearly Living Museum. The museum focuses on the contributions that have been made throughout history by African Americans to the building of a nation. Students were excited to find out that your generous contributions will enable them to easily find costumes for this event.

  The costumes are now easily accessible for sizing and for type. Students can now choose costumes without having to look through the entire collection. This event is praised by the school and community for its impact.

• Rewarding the Reading Exploring and Appreciating the Dewey (R.E.A.D.)

  Funded Aug 7, 2024

  Your donations have helped to reward students for helping to increase the circulation of the media center of our school. Circulation has increased approximately 57% over this time last year. Students have expressed their excitement when it comes to reading from the various genres of the Dewey Decimal System. You have helped to expand the knowledge base of our students, and we truly appreciate your generous donations.

  We have expanded this project by adding a component using Dewey Dollars. The snacks that your donations purchased helped in this effort in getting our students to read more. Students earn dollars to purchase books, gifts and gift cards.

  Your snack donations are the foundation for the other projects that have been implemented in our media center. We are humbled by your generosity.”

• Reading Exploring and Appreciating the Dewey (R.E.A.D.)

  The ability to have a refrigerator to store snacks has really enhanced our ability to provide and preserve chilled snacks for our students. Students are really beginning to participate in our Reading, Exploring and Appreciating the Dewey Program. Our circulation has increased because of our ability to provide the snacks that we do. There was an increase in circulation by 57% .

  The ability to provide students with refreshing snacks was created by your generosity. We truly appreciate that you have opened your hearts to provide for children. Words could never express how we truly feel.

• Keep It In Color

  Your donations have allowed students to have the ability to print projects for their classes in color. Students can come to the media center to print rendering for their art projects. Because of the quality of the printer, students can duplicate their renderings to help them improve their artistic abilities.

  Students from other classes come to print pictures to help them create vision boards. Students are excited to see what they envision for their future in color.

  The ink you have provided to keep our ability to print in color has generated an enthusiasm in students that has brought life to their skills and abilities.”

• Culture This

  I would like to thank you for helping us put on an outstanding display and performance. It was with the help of our color printer that we were able to create posters and other research material.

  Some of our posters were professionally printed but the initial research and posters were printed in-house. The ink provided for our color printer helped us create beautiful displays for students and the community.

  We had over 1,500 persons visit the museum we created with our posters and displays. This museum would not have been possible without your support.”

• Rocket Readers for the Future

  Witnessing students get excited about learning or creating projects is exhilarating. Seeing their expressions change when you ask them if they want to print their creations and projects in color is mind blowing. You may not think that color means that much to a child, but it encourages them to research and read just a little more.

  To take their research and reading a little further, students were asked to participate in the school's Living Museum. The students who participated in our Living Museum really benefited from the color printer that was presented to our library because when they researched the person or event, they were given the opportunity to visualize the time period through color. The printer was used to print a picture of the person or event in history with a short synopsis of the information obtained. The museum was opened to the community and entire student body which is comprised of more than one thousand students. The color printer provided vibrant pictures of the historical events, characters and timelines.

  Students worked together to create sets and costumes for the museum. You witnessed students solving problems as to how to make costumes look authentic for a character's time period. District personnel attended the museum and stated that what the students had done should be shared with other schools. To have students ask, "When are we going to do this again?" was really mind blowing.
