When You Give Students a Classroom Rug
Funded Feb 14, 2024What an incredible difference this classroom rug and cozy cushions have made already! Students have a rotating cycle on when they can use the cushions so that every student gets to comfortably sit on it.
The cushions have allowed students who like to lay on their stomach to sit properly on the cushion for comfort because sitting straight on the floor was not comfortable for them. With the variety of colors and choices, they love using these daily. They tend to take the cushion and place it on the rug, and then sit, which means that they get to use both donations.
They have gotten in the habit of stopping by the storage where the cushions are stored, in the morning, grabbing the color(s) they want and sitting on it to independently read before our first lesson of the day. Thank you for making our classroom cozier than ever before!”

Young Crafting Entrepreneurs and Bridge Builders
Funded Dec 30, 2022When our school threw out the idea of beginning clubs, the first thing that came to mind was the Cricut Club. I have such a love for creativity and personalized crafting that I wanted to teach my students.
At first, it was very challenging because the resources were very scarce and there wasn't much to start with. When we got the Cricut machine, iron, tools, and heat resistant tape we held a fundraiser with personalized stuffed animals, ornaments, ear muffs, and shirts and learned how to be young entrepreneurs. We began learning how to use design space to make basic cuts on card-stock such as hands and the I Have A Dream quote in celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday. We then learned how to change the font on design space, change the size, slice, and weld items together, in order to make our very own personalized tic tac toe board. We learned how to weed the pieces we didn't want to iron on using the Cricut tools and we learned how to use the mini irons to iron our names, tic tac toe board, and small game pieces. We are currently working on personalizing, weeding, and ironing our own ear muffs. Our projects won't stop there because we have so many more ideas that we want to bring to life. Without the generous donation of the Cricut machine, irons, heat resistant tape, and tools, these endless possibilities wouldn't have been possible.”
