Help Us Fill Our New Classroom!
Funded Sep 20, 2023Class 210 is very grateful for your generous donations. We have been able to create a fun sensory space. The student's have been using this area to build communication skills, as well as learn self-regulation.
Our sensory area has provided our students with a space where they can learn through play. With the many options that we now have in this area, the students can practice requesting what they would like to play with. They are building language skills when requesting for what they want. During play, they are able to engage in conversation and pretend play. The items used in the sensory bins are great for practicing labeling. This builds their vocabulary by providing our students with several options.
Pretend play is an important part of the learning experience for children with autism. The sensory areas allow students to use their imagination as they play with sand and water.
Sensory areas are also great for improving self-regulation skills. In this area, students are able to relax and enjoy engaging in fun-learning experiences.
The student's have also used some of the items to work on peer interaction skills. Our students have been using items such as the magnetic letters and numbers to engage in peer play. This builds communication and social skills.
Your donations have contributed to many wonderful learning experiences this year!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Christina
