Build Legacy's Photo and Journalism Studio!
Funded Oct 28, 2024Thank you for making this happen! We’ve been talking about getting our studio space up and running, and everyone will be so excited to see it come together! This will give them the chance to get professional-looking photos at school and practice their different lighting techniques with controlled key, ambient, and speed lights. You’re making great things happen!”

Student Stories Through Photography
Funded Jan 23, 2022Thank you so much for being part of something so special. Students have absolutely loved being part of our "English Family Photo Album." Because of restrictions on photos of students, I have to avoid posting any faces, but students use the Polaroid film that was part of this project to take photos of themselves with their friends, their work, or their class. These photos are then placed on the wall for all to see. Even years later, students come back and point out their photos and describe the good times they had in their class.
This project has helped create a stronger community within my classroom; they're all welcome to be part of the "family" and have a photo on the wall. Seeing the photos brings back those memories that we cherish. That's part of the reason I love photography so much--seeing those photos brings us back together if but for a moment. Thanks for being a part of this!”

Funded May 9, 2023Thank you so much for helping make this project a reality. I firmly believe that photography can change both people and the world. Students have the chance to begin the exciting and rewarding process of learning portrait photography thanks to your contributions.
Because of this project, students are able to take high quality portrait and street photography photos that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to do. The telephoto and 50mm lenses make photos look much more professional, and students get to learn the difference between a standard kit lens and a high quality lens. More often than not, they are excited to see how good their photos look when they use one of these nicer lenses. Thanks for being part of something so great!”

Funded Oct 26, 2022Thank you so much for your help in fulfilling the needs for this project. I firmly believe that photography can change people and the world, and allowing students this opportunity is a great way for them to begin experiencing the joy of photography.
In this project, students were required to print a photo using DSLR cameras. The compositions they took were edited and then prepared for printing. They then printed their masterpieces using the paper provided through this project. This is the culmination of everything that they learn in Photo 1, and they are typically very excited to be able to see their work on a tangible, high quality print. Many students have reached out to me and have expressed that they are continuing to learn and improve their photography after taking this class!
Thanks for being part of something so amazing!”
