Building Reading and Comprehension Skills
Funded Aug 27, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donations that funded my literacy project. I have many students in 3rd grade that cannot read, some in either language. Decodable books gives them the practice they need in learning a new-to-them English concept.
I also have some very smart students that need some guidance in the conventions and genres of English. The non-fiction leveled comprehension cards are wonderful for them to read and answer questions. These also help with discourse and writing. The students loved the Welcome Dr. Seuss sign which I use to encourage them to read.
Your donation makes you a part of their success story where you provided the money to purchase the materials. I am so grateful for your help with this.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Smith

Funded Dec 21, 2023I can't thank you enough for your generous donation to my class project. My students were able to take a placement assessment to level them in BrainPop ELL. They work every week on BrainPop ELL which is helping them with English grammar. This is so important for our multilingual students to learn the grammar and conventions of the English language as the rules are so different from their own language.
They are able to learn the grammar in a fun way with BrainPop ELL. They watch 3 videos: an introduction, a grammar, and a vocabulary video. This is followed by icons they click on to further their understanding such as: flash cards, word play, Hear It, Say It (this one is great to get them speaking and listening and where the headsets I also received are so helpful), Read It, Write It, Make a Map, grammar review, and take a Quiz. The students get practice in the 4 domains we need to teach them: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. BrainPop even has a scope and sequence to teach and lesson plans for teachers. BrainPop ELL reinforces what I teach in a fun way to help them remember what they have learned.
The students love the beautiful headsets with the built in microphone. It really helps them when recording their voice, and the comfortable ear pads work really well. Thank you so much for helping my students to learn with BrainPop ELL and for the headsets.”

Mrs. Smith
