  • Papers Here, Papers There, We Have Papers Everywhere!

    Funded Nov 26, 2024

Thank you so much for the cardboard mail slots and the bookcase/shelf ! Because of your generous donation, I have been able to assigned each student a mail slot for their paperwork. Each day they rush in to see what papers and other miscellaneous items I have put in their box. They love being able to assert some of their independence and they like taking responsibility for their papers. I have also labeled each mail slot with their name. Therefore, it is also adding name recognition to their education. The shelves also provide a designated place to keep their additional supplies, like crayons, paper and educational games.

Because of your kindness, I now have a place to store all my student's papers and supplies. I have been able to eliminate a lot of temporary storage boxes, that I accumulate over the years. Now my desk area is neater and cleaner. Thank you!

Having places to store the classroom papers and supplies, makes the room look more organized and less junky. The room also looks bigger, cleaner and more inviting. My students attention span has improved because there are less papers everywhere, to distract their attention. I am so thankful and blessed to get these items. I have noticed that the students are more relaxed and they take good care of the classroom now. Thank you so much!”

  • El Alfabeto to the Alphabet

    Funded Apr 30, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation! I have received the materials and they look great. Next week I will begin working with our Spanish speaking students. I plan to utilize the talking mats and books to get them familiar with the English translation of the alphabet, colors, numbers and objects like cat, dog, boy, girl, etc. The books will come in handy to send home. Because the books are in both English and Spanish, their non English speaking family can still read to them at home. Our non English speaking students usually arrive very shy, reluctant and confused. These materials will help them find something that is familiar to them and help them understand how it translates in English. Thank you for taking the time to support these students.”

  • New Supplies Surprise!

    Funded Apr 30, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation! Because of donors like you, teachers have the ability to purchase items that will fit the personality of their room and teaching methods. I was so excited when the items arrived!

I have trouble deciding which items the students love best. The magnetic letters are large enough for their little hands to move around. They love trying to spell their names with them. It is easier for them to use these instead of pencils or crayons. The magnetic eraser boards give them the opportunity to try to write, without the negative consequences of making mistakes. If they do make an error, they simply erase it and try again. And of course the pointers are a big hit! All the students love to help the teacher point out things on the schedule, calendar or alphabet chart. I can go on and on. Having fresh new things has given my students more incentive to keep things looking nice by taking care of them. It has also elevated their interest in learning and participating.

It is so hard to describe the positive impact, that these items have had on my class. Thank you for making a positive impact on these students.”

  • Save the Earth Please, While I learn My ABC's.

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation and support! The books arrived and I immediately put them to use. The children loved the stories and the illustrations were memorizing. Every time I read one of these books, I had the whole classes attention.

Each book had a theme and I focused on one alphabet letter to go with each book. After I read the book, we talked about the story. Then we talked about what we could do in school and home to make a difference. We then concluded the story and shifted our attention to a letter. So when I read a book about Reduce, Reuse and Recycle, we then talked about the letter "R". The students especially enjoyed going back through the book and looking for the letter we focused on.

I displayed the all the books in the Reading Corner. They are the first books my students gravitate to. And every day, the students love to come in and tell me what they are doing at home to help the environment. Thank you for helping me encourage my students to make the earth a better place, while learning their letters. My students and I appreciate your support!”

  • Every Child Deserves a Book!

    Funded Apr 30, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation! These books have been the highlight of my students day. When I received these books, my students got so excited. Before I let them handle the books, we talked about how to handle and take care of the books. We also discussed what the cover page and back page are, about the book title, author and illustrator, and the binder of the book.

Ever since we got these new books, the students can't wait for their turn to go to the reading corner. They see the difference between the old books and the condition of the new books. So, you can tell they are being careful and handling the books appropriately.

I have also sent some books home with students, that do not have access to books outside of school. Before I give it to them, I reiterate how important it is to take care of them. I also encourage them to have someone read it to them, or at least look at it themselves, everyday.

Books are such an important part of a persons life. Thank you again for giving me the opportunity, to get some new books. It has brighten and enriched my students understanding of books and how important it is to read them and take care of them. They too are very grateful for your generosity. Thank you again.”

  • Win with STEM

    Funded Apr 30, 2024

Thank you so much for these learning resources! They have had a big impact on the students. Some of the resources arrived in time for the 2023 - 2024 school year. Then some arrived later. Therefore, I had to wait this year to use those items. Regardless of when they arrived, the students really enjoyed having a new learning resource to play with. I could really see the excitement and enthusiasm in their behavior.

Last school year, I sent home some of the Stem Books. These students did not have any books at home and I wanted them to have something to read and look at over the summer.

This year we started utilizing the Alphabet Zoo game and the magnetic tracing board, along with the other crafts and games. They really enjoy playing with the animals and matching them with the letters. As they progress through that activity, I have started concentrating more on matching the animal using the letter sounds.

They thoroughly enjoy the Magnetic Tracing Board. It has sparked their interest in learning how to write the letters and it is improving their eye hand coordination. Many of them have graduated to writing their letters on the Magic Board. However, they still ask to use the Magnetic Tracing Board.

I can't begin to thank you enough for your generous donation. The positive impact that these items have is amazing. It gives the students the opportunity to learn while doing something they love to do. And I really enjoy seeing them learn and grow.”

  • Magnetic Attraction to ABC's

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation! The magnetic letterboard, large magnetic upper case and lower case letters, and the magnetic letter builders have added a new dimension to my lesson plans.

Not only does the magnetic letter board serve as a room divider, the students love using it to find letters, play with the letters and spell out their name. The large size letters make it easier for their little hands and fingers to manipulate the letters. It also makes it easier for them to see.

The letter builder is great to use when we are seated at a table. It helps the students see how letters are built using straight lines and curves. I like to have them build the letter on the letter card first. Then I have them try to build it without the card.

The students love these new items and look forward to using them in my class. Thank you for helping me make learning fun!”

  • A Book in My Hand Helps My Mind Expand

    Funded May 9, 2023

Thank you so much for the books! All my students are so excited to have some new ones. They have refreshed the reading center and make it more inviting.

I have many students that come from low income families and they have limited access to books at home. But, most of them have access to none. Reading time is a treat to them. Each day I read them a new book. I also make sure they have time to freely browse the books. It allows them time to look at the pictures and let their imaginations make up their own version of the story. I also notice that this is the time they start gravitating to one or two particular books. These books capture their attention, either from the pictures or the story they tell, and become their favorite book.

I also implement these books into the individual or small group lessons. When teaching the alphabet, I have the students open a book and find the letter we are studying. They get excited every time they find the letter. Sometimes, they count how many times the letter shows up on a page. I also have them pick out the sight word we are learning about. It reiterates that these words and letters make up the story we are reading, their importance in the book and why they need to know them.

Thank you for giving them the gift of books and reading.”

  • Time to Rhyme

    Funded Mar 15, 2023

Thank you so much for the rhyming games. My students love playing these games at the end of their lesson. It helps them practice what they have learned and it helps me understand if and where they may need more guidance. Because of the variety of these games, my students never get bored playing them.

These games have often been incentive to finish their work so, they can play with them. I have the puzzles/games sorted by beginner and advance levels. Therefore, I can increase they complexity as they advance.

The best part of these games/puzzles, is seeing the look and body expressions of joy, when they complete a challenging match. It is a look I will never forget! And I too am overjoyed and proud. This is one of the best rewards of teaching. You too should be proud that your donation truly makes a difference in these students lives.”
