Interactive Adaptive Physical Education
Funded Sep 29, 2022Technology has been a part of our students lives for many years now. Students and more tec-savvy than we give them credit for. But it was not necessarily an essential part of their academic lives until the pandemic struck and all students and parents were suddenly forced to learn how to navigate a new remote instruction environment. Once the students were back in school full time, it actually became hard to do a lesson with out a device since the students had relied on them so much for 2 years.
Having use of a Chromebook has made my teaching experience and the experience of the students easier and more exciting. I am able to show instructional videos of lessons and activities, we can use videos of colleagues to do games (yoga freeze dance and scavenger hunts are big hits) and the students can use the Chromebook to explore activities and ideas they may want to bring to our class. I am also able to write my IEPs and lessons in a more convenient manner during the school day.
Some of my students who are in wheel chairs and who are less ambulatory than others really enjoy the Chromebook because it can be used as a tool for them to lead lessons. And some of my more tec-savvy students have shown me how to create fun and exciting lessons. It is only one device, but it has made a big impact on our daily class activities. We would like to thank you so much for the generous donation. Hopefully we will continue to find new ways to incorporate the Chromebook into our lessons!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Troup
